WATERBIRTH HELPS TO PROMOTE RELAXATION, REDUCE PAIN, IMPROVE CIRCULATION, INCREASE MOBILITY AND IS PROTECTIVE TO THE PREMIUM.
Water birth is the process of labouring and/or giving birth in a tub or pool of warm water. Some folks choose to labour in the water. Other's decide to stay in the water for their birth. People find their ability to change positions is better facilitated and feel more supported while pushing while they are submersed in water.
Submersion in water is an effective form of pain management during labour and delivery. It is considered hydrotherapy, which has been shown to be an effective form of pain management for a variety of conditions. When compared with conventional pain management techniques for labour and delivery (e.g. anaesthesia and narcotics), hydrotherapy is an effective alternative.
"The therapeutic properties of warm water immersion have been known for centuries. Baths, showers and whirlpools have been used for comfort during labour for many years. Over the past decades, immersion in water for the birth of the baby has aroused interest in many countries and an increase in the number of women requesting this option for both hospital and out-of-hospital births is occurring" College of Midwives of British Columbia
